Spine TV - Stolen Moments - Pirates And Diamonds

I spent the most glorious day of the year so far in the sepulchral, hipster church of too-cool that is Dalston’s Boys Club - bristling with taxidermy birds, mannequins and stacks of darkly smudged oil paintings against the walls - with sunlight jealously peeping through the gothic scraps of black sheet on the windows at the camera and lights glinting in the gloom. This was how I filmed an exclusive version of Pirates And Diamonds for Spine TV’s March issue of their Stolen Moments series. Here is the film, produced and directed by Dan Canyon and assisted by Jackson Ducasse.

Also featured in this month’s issue are artist Yuko Michishita explaining her position regarding insects - dead or alive, Lucy Rose singing a beautiful version of ‘Scar’ and artist Paul Fryer speaking about the responsibility of power. http://www.spinetv.net/stolenmoments

Kiss Chase For Cupid - live a capella

This was my encore at The Workshop under Roadtrip on Old St last week. It’s a new song, unrecorded and so far almost completely unheard by humankind.

“Kiss Chase For Cupid” is a story about the slap-dash merry-go-round chase of love.

Thanks to Jon Barker for the video!

Lyrics: Kiss Chase For Cupid

I saw him from a distance lying down
In pain or pleasure, wounded by a thorn
I stopped to help but cupid’s bow was drawn
I didn’t stand a chance - my heart was torn - - -
But this man loves another…

Cupid you don’t care if you miss the mark
Your games rearrange the tangled hearts
Change the partners in the dance

Such a kiss, but oh it’s such a mess!
Everything you touch ends up like this
You draw your bow and arrow but you miss
Your aim is careless and we’re delirious…

Cupid you’re a crazy little boy
Racing wild and chasing fickle joy
Why d’ya never stick around to see
The consequences of your foolery

My man loves another - such a mess
Everything you touch ends up like this
You draw your bow and arrow but you miss
Your aim is careless and we’re delirious

Cupid, look at what you did
We pick up the pace when you say we should
What’s the use of this pair of puckered lips
And what’s the good of cupid’s chase
Without a kiss?

He tracked me down in meadows where I lay
By silver streams and bales of golden hay
Planted kisses on my sleeping face
Before I had a chance to run away

The one who loves me knows I’m such a mess
Everything you touch ends up like this
You draw your bow and arrow but you miss
Your aim is careless and we’re delirious

For such a kiss
Such a kiss
And without a kiss
What’s all this?!
